JJürgen Schwalk was born 1964 in Unna/Germany. His mother taught him to play the classical guitar when he was ten years old. Soon he played in several Rock-Bands. But he showed very early interest in jazz music. He founded together with the drummer Christian Finger an improvisation project. At the age of 16 he decided to concentrate in classical music. He studied guitar at the "Folkwanghochschule" in Essen with Prof. Hans Gräf and composition with Prof. Zillhardt. At this time he met the flute player Thomas Döller. They founded together the "Duo Alexandre Tansman". They gave many recitals different countries and festivals. 2013 they published their 5th Cd "Carbon". It´s a world premiere recording with a Coal-Titan flute! (music by Jürgen Schwalk) They made lot of transcription with the music of A.Tansman, which has been honored by the daughters of A.Tansman.
After his first CD "Hommage á Tansman" (1994) he decided to compose more his own muic.
He won a national prize for his musical "Manfred der Verlierer". He wrote a concert for the canadien guitarist Remi Boucher, which was presented 2004 in Mexico. For the cuban oboist Jorge Rivero he wrote a Concert "MORELIA" for oboe and orchestra.
In 2004 he got back to jazz music. He founded the "TRIO HUT UP" and composed a lot of music for this group. 2007 he played in Havana for the saxophonist and bandleader Raul Guiterrez from Chili the guitar part for his international recording project.
